General Information
The historic Wheatland Cemetery
is owned and operated by the Wheatland Cemetery Association.
Though the association was founded in 1908, the cemetery has been in
use since shortly after the civil war. In 1856 the old Wesley Chapel
was destroyed by a Tornado and then the
Methodist relocated to Wheatland where they built a new
church and began use of the cemetery. In 1968, due to
development, numerous graves from the Old Wesley Chapel Cemetery
were relocated to the Wheatland Cemetery. The Old Wesley
Chapel Cemetery is no longer in existence.
Wheatland was annexed by Dallas
in the mid 1950's and all that now remains of that once proud
farming community is the church and cemetery. Though the
Wheatland Cemetery is independent of
the Wheatland Church, our common history bonds us together and is a
lasting testament to the pioneers that founded the southern part of
Dallas county.

Cemetery Access
The gates are opened by 7 am and locked at
dark. The North walk-in gate is left unlocked so people can
park at the church and not get caught up with the parked cars during
a funeral.
Trust Fund
The cemetery is maintained by interest on a Trust
Fund. Only the interest can be used. If you or someone
you know would like to contribute or leave a gift for this Trust Fund
please contact the Cemetery Association. Account statements are available upon request.
